Ask: Design a juicer that balances function and aesthetic to fit the lifestyle of consumer profile Virginia – a SoulCycle manager who is passionate about health, wellness, the outdoors, and boho/eclectic design.
Opportunity: Current market juicers don’t succeed in providing everything people like Virginia desire in a juicer.
Solution: Sustaina – a versatile, time-saving juicer that maximizes nutrient yield with design details inspired by nature’s beauty.
Meet Virginia
Virginia is a 25-year-old vegetarian who manages a SoulCycle Studio. She is passionate about health, wellness, clean living, and boho/eclectic design. Virginia loves plants and the outdoors, and cares about reducing her carbon footprint.
Her pain points
LACK OF TIME
After 24 hours, cold-pressed juices lose 40% of their nutritional value, which means Virginia needs to juice frequently, but in a way that’s as convenient as possible since she’s always on the go.
OVERPAYING FOR LOW NUTRIENTS
Virginia purchases juices that cost $7 for 15oz from an online retailer, but she would save money and get more nutritional value if she made her own.
LACK OF DESIGN OPTIONS
Virginia wants a juicer that fits with her home decor and can be displayed as a statement piece on her countertop.
MULTI-FUNCTIONALITY IS A MUST
Virginia needs a juicer that can do more than one thing. She cares about her carbon footprint, so she wants to buy fewer things and higher quality items that last longer.

With Virginia’s pain points in mind, design a juicer that addresses:

No extensive prep, like time spent chopping items
Easy clean-up
Produces large quantity of juice
NUTRIENTS
Maximizes the nutrient yield from fruits and vegetables, especially difficult-to-juice leafy greens

Offers additional, beneficial functions, like making smoothies and nut milk
Uses high quality materials that are durable and long-lasting
